Socket

A female connector is a connector that forms a sleeve around its male counterpart in the centre. We always define the socket as a “contact (female)” unless otherwise specified.
In contrast, we define the plug as a “male”.

Important: The gender of the connector always refers only to the inner conductor, not to the outer connection.
