Plug

A plug refers to a connector in which the centre conductor protrudes. We always define the plug as “male” unless otherwise specified.
In contrast, we define the socket as a “contact (female)”.

In English, the plug/male connector is called a “plug”.

Important: The gender of the connector always refers only to the inner conductor, not to the outer connection.

Further detailed information on plug connectors can be found here.
