Covering

The shielding attenuation of the shielding braid is usually specified in decibels (dB) and represents a measure of the optical coverage in per cent (%). It is important to understand that a braided shield, unlike a closed foil, is never 100% opaque.

Cable types such as the Sucoform, which is equipped with tinned braided shielding, or the LMR with bonded foil offer almost complete, 100% coverage. These cables guarantee consistent shielding even in curves and bends. However, the use of foil as shielding has the disadvantage of stiffer behaviour compared to cables that use one or two braided shields.
