Connectors – 50 Ohm – Reverse Polarity
Reverse polarity coaxial connectors are a variation of standard coaxial connectors in which the polarity of the interface is reversed. The term ‘reverse polarity’ refers to the polarity of the connectors and not to the signal polarity. The outer shell (housing) of the connector is identical to that of a standard connector, but the connectors are reversed.
The purpose of developing reverse polarity coaxial connectors was to differentiate professional and commercially available equipment to ensure compliance with FCC and international regulations. This was to prevent consumers from connecting high power antennas to commercial equipment in violation of laws and regulations.
